Centre Jean Perrin,
France
 Biography:
Upon completion of my M.D. in medical oncology in 1984 and my Ph.D. in molecular biology in 1991 at the University of Auvergne (France), I joined as geneticist the faculty of medicine at the Comprehensive Cancer Center Jean Perrin in Clermont-Ferrand in France after a post-doctoral position at University of California of San Diego (USA) and at the Salk Institute of La Jolla (California USA). I pioneered oncogenetics in France, by founding both clinic facility and a molecular biology laboratory devoted to the hereditary predisposition to cancers in 1988.
My scientific activities were based on research combining genomics and basic cancer research with translational research applied to clinics for families with different hereditary risks of cancers, in the field of predictive medicine. I founded the French cooperative network in oncogenetics in 1991, and wrote the first French scientific book in oncogenetics. Through international networks, I contributed to localize in the human genome and then to determine the role of BRCA1 and BRCA2 germ-line mutations in cancer risk  and the role of other genes in breast cancer and colon cancer hereditary predisposition. I was the first to demonstrate at the molecular level, links between nutrients and their potential protective effects on breast cancer through BRCA1 expression regulation.
I published more than 230 papers in peer-review journals (6,000 citations in “web of science” website), H index at 35, made 250 conferences and 500 communications in scientific meetings, about 100 conference for wide public or interviews in media, and I am co-owner of 5 patents. I belongs to French, European and American of both genetics and cancer societies, I am member of editorial board of 4 international journals. I am the former scientific director of the Centre Jean Perrin 2004-2011 and elected member of the board of the Medical school at Auvergne University since march 2009 in charge of the biology.
